LGBTQIA+ Poetry Night with Dillon Jaxx & S-Bars

Join us for a special evening of spoken word, poetry and performance as acclaimed poet Dillon Jaxx joins host S-Bars for an LGBTQIA+ Poetry Night at Greyskull.

Part of our Pride Month programme and the Après Beach summer series, this event brings together award-winning queer voices, local creatives and the wider LGBTQIA+ community for an evening of storytelling, connection and conversation.

Featuring Dillon Jaxx

Dillon Jaxx is a queer, chronically ill writer whose work explores the aftermath of trauma, illness and grief, alongside questions of home, family, identity and language.

Their poetry has been published in Poetry Wales, Magma, Poetry Ireland Review and The Alchemy Spoon, and has been recognised by numerous literary awards. Dillon won the Rebecca Swift Writing Prize in 2022 and has since won the Brotherton Prize (2024), Wolverhampton Poetry Competition (2024), Live Canon International Poetry Competition (2025) and the Artemisia Arts Prize (2025).

Their debut collection, like starlings falling, is published by Nine Arches Press on 2nd July.

Hosted by S-Bars

The evening will be hosted by S-Bars (they/them), a queer spoken word, movement and drag artist known for performances that are raw, funny, vulnerable and deeply human.

A familiar face on the UK spoken word scene, S-Bars explores themes of healing, self-discovery, relationships and queer identity, blending heartbreak and hilarity in equal measure. They regularly headline events, facilitate writing workshops and host inclusive poetry nights across the UK.

Open Mic

A limited number of open mic slots will be available on the night.

Whether you've written poetry for years or have something you've never shared before, we'd love to hear it. Poems, spoken word, stories and creative pieces are all welcome.
